This felt very good to finally release.

After some time soul searching and a lot of iteration, I've come to the belief that levels are not the way forward for Switchblade, therefore, they have been cancelled. Now, the focus is on gamemodes and very short challenge levels with a specific win/lose condition. Bosses will remain as part of these challenges, because I love Ocellatus too much to scrap it (for now).

So much has changed that I can't list it in an organised fashion, but here's the gist of it:

  • Player has been refactored to now use lives, bullets are stronger, and you die upon overheating
  • Player regeneration has been disabled, player now uses lives
  • Added 4 gamemodes, Pure, Rush, Denial and Crowd
  • Large menu additions and polish
  • Added lots of new enemies. Snake, Crisscross, Heater, Exploder, Denier, and maybe some more I'm forgetting about
  • Added help/credits menus
  • Refactored options. If the game crashes, delete the files located at /%appdata%/roaming/switchblade/
